Position Overview:
Stepping Stones Montessori in East Lansing (SSM), Michigan, is an established, non-profit, independent Montessori school seeking a passionate and experienced leader to serve as our Head of School starting with the 2025-2026 school year.
Position Description:The Head of School will serve as the educational and operational leader of our Montessori community, ensuring the highest standards of Montessori pedagogy, curriculum, and administration. This leadership role requires a strong commitment to Montessori principles and the ability to foster a thriving learning environment for students, faculty, and families.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- Montessori Experience: Montessori classroom experience, teacher certification, and/or administration certification (highly preferred).
- Leadership Experience: Proven experience in a leadership role within a school setting, preferably Montessori.
- Operational Management: Strong ability to manage school operations, including budgeting, staffing, and regulatory compliance.

Homeschool Pod Teacher
My husband and I are looking for a teacher to run our homeschool pod with about 10 kids or less for this upcoming 2025/26 school year. We are renovating a building on our property into a school house, and are hoping that whoever we hire can have a hand in creating the perfect hybrid classroom. We’re looking for someone who has a background in preK-2nd grade and has experience teaching multiple aged kids in the same room. We would like for this person to treat the school days with fluidity and freedom, giving the children access to explore their personal interests as well as working as a group. We want the kids to be exposed to reading, writing, maths, and sciences, but also spend lot of time outdoors and have real world applications of learning. We’re thinking that the school week will be Monday to Friday, with Friday being the real world/field trip/special guest appearance/out of classroom day. Monday-Thursday hours would be 9am-1pm; this time frame including lunch and recess. We would like to hire this teacher as an independent contractor, but we’re open to discussions about this further.
